Never Become Invisible: Pam’s Story of Purpose, People & Person-Centred Care

At Seniors Helping Seniors, we believe in #AgeingWithoutLimits. The heartfelt purpose has never changed. The success of Kieran’s charity which launched 28 years ago, found sustainability through a repeatable and cherished home-care format: Business owners all over America and in the UK honour the win-win format where people are supported people to give and receive care in a way that honours their experience, respects their time, and makes space for meaningful work—at every stage of life.

One of the people who embodies this spirit is Pam, who joined us in October 2023 as a Companion Carer. But her journey didn’t stop there.

Pam quickly trained into our Care Co-ordinator role, where she now job shares at our Canterbury and Thanet office. Job sharing is a skill—and Pam brought valuable experience from her years at Renault to make it a success. Her days are spent supporting our carers, liaising with clients, and making sure the flexible, person-centred care we promise runs smoothly.

Experience, Empathy and Excellence

The flexibility we offer at Seniors Helping Seniors isn’t just a policy—it’s a value we live by. And it only works because of people like Pam. Her natural empathy, exceptional people skills, and ability to handle constant change make her a key part of what we do.

Pam is known for going above and beyond to make the perfect match between clients and carers. When families need help, they know they can count on us. Pam’s patience and scheduling skills are the secret behind the calm, reliable support our community has come to trust.

On Turning 70: Pam Reflects

As Pam approached a milestone birthday, we asked her to share how she felt. True to form, her response was inspiring:

“I’m writing this literally just hours before my ‘Big 70th’ birthday and I can honestly say that in my head I feel no different from when I was 40….

They say, ‘age is just a number’ and of course that’s true for each and every one of us, however, reaching that ‘number’ does not have to pigeon-hole us into the category of ‘old’…

For years now I’ve heard so many people say that with age, comes invisibility, which really does make me sad, and I will not subscribe to that mantra…

We have so much to give still—that’s why I have no intention of retiring… My husband and I work 2 days per week with Seniors Helping Seniors. The rewarding work we do is local and flexible. It fits perfectly with our life, our children, and our grandchildren.

So, my own personal mantra is: Never Become Invisible.

Thank You, Pam

Pam reminds us that ageing is not about stepping back—it’s about stepping forward with confidence, purpose, and the freedom to choose what works best for you. The coaching we provide ensures Pam’s confidence and wellbeing. Pam lives our values: ageing wellsupporting community, and valuing every person’s contribution.

We see you, Pam. Thank you for everything—and Happy Birthday from all of us at Seniors Helping Seniors.
